A co-existence of
faith and queerness.

A story.

It’s another day. One more day tallied to put on a costume and mask in order to conform to community, family, religious space, or more. The costume is laid out, chosen for me already — arbitrary colors and patterns to signify masculinity and femininity. As I pick it up, I take a deep breath to enter in again a role of what is expected of me — heteronormativity. I can never say who I am. I cannot bear to speak truth about my queerness. I can pray this away. I can pretend it doesn’t exist. So I continue in this fashion in silence, trying desperately to plug into a system that wasn’t made to include me.

What if this story didn’t have to be this way?

What if we said there is a space for you at the table?

If this is you, we want you to know that you are not alone. You are worthy. You are priceless. Each part of you is precious and deserves to be seen and celebrated.

Finding support is an act of courage and bravery. At Pride and Grace Counseling, our psychotherapists have lived experience, clinical experience, and an openness to join you in your journey of healing and authenticity.

"Do I have to choose between my gender identity and my faith?" Instead, I found myself asking, "Is it possible to fully embrace both parts of my identity and still be welcomed into Christian community?"
